IT is hoped that many of the young apprentices of today will become the next generation of business owners and wealth creators.
Helping businesses from the start up stage to success is a particular field of expertise for Henry Joseph-Grant who is one of the judges for the Asian Apprenticeship Awards.
Coming from Northern Ireland he studied Arabic at the University of Westminster and this has proved vital in his work with businesses in Dubai.
He has been a mentor in a programme run by RBS and KPMG to help people to take their businesses to the next level.
“Whilst many businesses are founded and run successfully by Asians there is a lack of awareness of the value of apprenticeships both to the employee and employer,” he said.
Henry believes that the biggest benefit to flow from the awards will be in helping to raise awareness but that this just has to be a start to an important process.
His own career shows what can be achieved through hard work and confidence.
Starting work as a paperboy at the age of 11, he was then a successful salesman. There were more than three years with Virgin followed by a period of time in recruitment.
Henry then had a highly successful period with the fast food business JustEAT starting when he worked for the company in the UK.
He is also an Angel investor in businesses where he sees potential.
